Global Packaging Development Manager
Job Purpose
Responsible for the design and delivery of breakthrough packaging projects for OTC’s global categories and strategic global brands.
Major Accountabilities
Strategic support:
• Support the implementation of global systems and it tools as global Packaging Specification database and Packaging Menus) for OTC.
• Support the creation and delivery of a packaging laboratory across our two main development centres (Nyon, Parsippany).
• Support the creation and delivery of packaging material guidelines across our key packaging technologies (cartons, tubes, leaflets, bottles, etc).
• Support the creation and delivery of a packaging standardization master plan across our key packaging technologies (cartons, tubes, leaflets, bottles etc). Work collaboratively with Engineering to ensure the master plan is consistent with the equipment standardization master plan, for the assigned categories or brands.
Culture change:
• Support the creation of a bridge between the Business and Technical communities to ensure that new packages win with the consumer, provide best value to the business and are easy to manufacture.
• Work with R&D and GMS functional management to ensure that new packaging projects are delivered with excellence during the Development and Start-Up phases of projects, for the assigned projects.
• Support greater collaboration and reapplication of IP and technologies across the Novartis Bus thru the x-BU / x -division Packaging network.
Operational:
• Provide Packaging Development support to the packaging development team, for the assigned projects.
• Deliver assigned packaging and device projects on time, on budget ensuring that project stage gates and success criteria are met.
• Implement and comply with standard work processes and systems to ensure that Packaging projects are designed and delivered with excellence.
Ideal Background
Education:
Bachelor or Masters degree in a Design, Engineering or Materials Science discipline, preferable packaging technology
Experience:
Packaging development experience in a multi-national environment
