GLOBAL PACKAGING ENGINEER
Key Deliverables
• Manage the global packaging portfolio, ensuring packages are economical, sustainable, user friendly and in compliance with legal requirements in the regions where they are traded, and based upon needs from marketing & sales and capabilities in manufacturing and at our customers base.
• Support Manufacturing in packaging equipment related activities (definition, supplier selection, etc).
• Manage and develop labels compliant to GHS, local legal requirements
Core Responsibilities
• Management of the global packaging portfolio
• Co-ordination and support role with the other regions
• In co-ordination with Marketing, Corporate Purchasing, Sales & Manufacturing
• Introduce / revise packaging for new and existing products
• Review of regulatory compliance for new and existing products: Chemical prospective; Global transportation all modes and all destinations
• Coordinate UN package testing through third-party test lab. Ensure periodic retesting is completed as adequate and within required time frame
• Coordinate package compatibility testing upon request from product group.
• Investigate packaging complaints with team to determine best-fit resolutions.
• Maintain Packaging Specification Network. Make specifications transparent and available in SAP
• Support cost cutting initiatives on packaging materials, not compromising technical & legal needs.
• Stay abreast of developments and changes in packaging shipping regulations
• Introduce changes in co-ordination with the Business
• Ensure timely and accurate packaging material data in SAP master data bank: For the introduction; Data relevant to issue packaging waste reports to authorities
• Co-operate closely with the engineering group in case of investment in new packing lines
• Ensure timely support of the various projects related to the implementation of the manufacturing footprint.
Functional Skills & Competencies
• IT (Excel, Works, etc) & SAP skills
• Good network to associations, regulatory bodies and industry
• Fluent in French and English, Conversational Knowldege of German mandatory
• Conceptual thinking

Primary Qualifications (education / experience)
• Education in Packaging Engineering, with industrial packaging experience
• Knowledge in Packaging related regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR, food, cosmetic and allergens)
