The area: Engineering, Software Engineering
Google's Software Engineers develop the next-generation technologies for which we've become world-renowned. In addition to revolutionizing search technology, we use our world-class programming skills to innovate in a number of other areas as well. Our projects include working on advanced information-retrieval algorithms, massive scalability and storage solutions, and large-scale applications that enrich the user experience. We also work extensively on networking systems, advertising systems and complex transaction systems in consumer applications.
The role: Webmaster Trends Analyst (Korean)
As a Webmaster Trends Analyst you will use your technical and Korean communication skills to bridge the gap between webmasters and our engineers. Our goal is to improve Google's search results by effectively and respectfully interacting with webmasters and others, as well as ensuring that Google?s algorithms and processes support the needs of webmasters, content providers and our users.
You have a strong technical background and understand the perspective of our webmaster audience. You are able to interact with webmasters in a variety of ways. Your skills help us to design and build easy-to-use tools that enable internal and external users to be able to diagnose issues and influence improvements in our web search infrastructure. You are an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, a quick learner who enjoys communicating with webmasters and ultimately providing a better search experience for Google users.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor and analyze webmaster issues for trends (in various online forums, conferences, internal questions, etc.)
* Formulate recommendations for Google?s user-facing services, internal processes or communications efforts
* Route issues using appropriate escalation paths
* Investigate specific issues
* Handle webmaster communications in various forms (online as well as at conferences and events)
Requirements:
* BA/BS preferred or equivalent industry experience
* Extensive experience with HTML and JavaScript, computer programming language a plus
* Strong knowledge of and experience with internet infrastructure such as IP addresses, networking in general, DNS, WHOIS, domain names, firewalls, and hosting solutions
* Excellent communication skills; public speaking experience a plus
* Excellent web research, analytical and debugging skills
* Ability to write scripts/tools to help automate tedious tasks
* Fluency in written and spoken English and Korean.
