Our Engineering Managers need to be technical leaders and motivators who are comfortable leading these teams in a high-pressure, dynamic ? and global ? environment. Jobs are broadly defined and interact with Product Management, Sales and other groups at Google.
The role: Technical Program Manager, Google.com
Google is looking for project managers who can manage technical projects in the Google.com group. You are comfortable driving massive projects where you'll demonstrate tack-sharp analytical skills with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive. You are at ease explaining your analyses and project recommendations to executives as they would be discussing the technical merits of next-generation architectures with Google's engineers, or building tools to automate and scale their impact.
Responsibilities:

* Take responsibility for the overall planning, budgeting, execution and final success of Google.com technical projects.
* Work in conjunction with software engineers, systems administrators, network engineers and hardware teams to drive projects.
* Identify metrics and drive initiatives to improve the quality of Google Services.

Requirements:

* BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
* Fluency in one or more of: C, C , Java; or experience with Unix systems administration, including solid scripting skills in Shell, PHP, Perl or Python.
* Experience managing large-scale, aggressive, and dynamic technical projects, with competing resources and priorities.
* Hands-on experience some of the following areas essential: software engineering, system administration, networking, computer hardware, logistics and operations, capacity planning.
* Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment. Experience with launching Internet software/service preferred.
* Firm sense of accountability, ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle and sound knowledge of project management.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication and presenting skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical groups.
